Born in Rock Island, Knudsen's career spans almost his entire life, having won his first art competition at age seven. While attending Blackburn University in Southern Illinois, he wanted to learn the techniques of painting, but during the seventies, the style was more to express yourself and your feelings. He then turned to PBS and Bob Ross to learn the techniques he needed. Living in Texas he met John Jamison, a one-armed potter, from whom he learned to include ceramics, fabric, and other objects into his art.
He returned to the Rock Island and for eight years taught at the Family Museum in Bettendorf and opened a gallery in Davenport.
He then headed to California to work at Disneyland painting children's faces as whatever character they wanted to be. He now owns Ravencrest Studio near the Rock Island District and has work on display at Mama Compton's where he works..
His colorful and varied career has resulted in his work being shown at Sharvel Guitar World Headquarters in Tokyo and many private collections in San Antonio, New York, Chicago, New Orleans, and Boston. He has had work at Bucktown, The Artery, and Rozztox in the QC area, and was voted Quad-City Artist of the Year. We hope that you will attend the exhibit and reception
and view his creative art works.
